Scientific research and data collection

The Caspian Seal Conservation Center aims to expand existing data for research, the physical characteristics of the live seals and the founded carcasses from different tissues of carcasses are recorded, such as weight, height, approximate age and health status. Seals are at the top of the food pyramid in the Caspian Sea, and the best way to control the pollution of the sea is through the identification of the compounds found in the dead bodies to detect the presence of contaminants in the sea.

At present, due to lack of facilities for storing samples at the center, samples are sent to collaborating universities and laboratories.
